First time here? Schedule a free 15 minute phone call to find out if therapy with me is a good fit

What To Expect In Therapy

Before beginning therapy, I spend about 15 minutes talking with a prospective client on the phone. These consultations are free. We will talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy, which helps me make sure that I have the appropriate training and experience to help you meet your treatment goals. I will also answer any questions that you have about me or my practice. If you decide you’d like to go ahead with therapy, we would then schedule your first appointment during the phone consultation.

Most clients come to therapy once per week at the start of treatment, although some attend therapy more or less often. We can discuss together what length and frequency of appointment will work best for you. During your first session, we will talk in more depth about the concerns that are bringing you to therapy and we may start making a plan together about how to address them.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to request a consultation at 503-455-4488 or by using the contact form above.

Fees & Insurance

I am in network with PacificSource. If you have a different insurance company, you may still be able to use your health insurance to get the cost of our therapy sessions partially reimbursed. If you would like to work together and I am not in network with your insurance provider, please ask your insurance company these questions:

– How much of the cost of out-of-network sessions does my plan cover?
– Does my deductible apply to out-of-network services? How close am I to meeting my deductible?
– How many therapy sessions I am allowed per year?
– Do I need pre-authorization for these sessions?
– How do I obtain reimbursement for therapy sessions?

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Please remember to cancel or reschedule therapy appointments 24 hours in advance. There is no charge for appointments rescheduled with 24 hours notice, and there is a $75 fee for a cancellations made without 24 hours of notice. If you are late to a session, you may lose some of that session time.

Privacy & Social Media

Your right to privacy is very important. In general, the privacy of all communications between a patient and a psychologist is protected by law, and I can only release information about our work to others with your written permission. There are a few exceptions, for example, I may share information about our work without permission in an emergency to protect you or others from serious harm or life-threatening danger. Before our first meeting, you’ll receive a consent form that lists these exceptions. If you have any questions about your privacy rights and the confidentiality of our work together, please ask at any time.

I avoid connecting with current and former clients on social networking sites (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc) because I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy, and may blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship.

NEW: The No Surprises Act

In January of 2022, congress’s No Surprises Act (H.R. 3630) went into effect. This bill includes information relevant to health insurance plan holders seeking out-of-network services. Most parts of this bill apply to situations where the plan holder is seeking either emergency services, or non-emergency services from an out-of-network provider and at an in-network facility. However, some parts apply to all healthcare providers who offer out-of-network services to clients, including my practice. These include our responsibility to provide clients seeking out-of-network services with a Good Faith Estimate for the cost of the services to be provided, and our responsibility to post a notice describing those clients’ rights when it comes to receiving out-of-network care. Please see the notice below for more information about your rights when you seek out-of-network healthcare.
